Hello Reddit! This is the Shokuho (formerly Way of the Sword) team speaking! It has been a while since we last posted but here is a little update to our mod. Marty, the creator of Gekokujo, has joined the team! In celebration, we decided to release a FAQ on moddb with a small teaser. Enjoy!

    Culture bonuses are underwhelming.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 01:32 AM PST

Pretty much the title. While all of the bonuses in the game make sense, only half of the bonuses present are actually useful, one of which only comes into play in lategame.
Let's take a look at them:
Aserai - 30% cheaper caravans, 10% less trade penalty. Good for a trading character, as was the aim.
Khuzait - Bonus 10% movement speed for cavalry on the campaign map. Very specific and not broadly useful.
Empire - Bonuses to construction speed on buidings, siege machines and walls. A rather nice bonus of 20%, albeit a rather mid-late game oriented one.
Vlandia - 20% more upgrade XP from battles. Personally, I find it pretty great, as it shortens time to train for my troops, speeding up my progress overall.
Sturgia - 20% less movement penalty from snow. 'Cause that matters. Yeah.
Battania - 10% less speed penalty from forests. While forests are more widespread than snow, it's still rather underwhelming.

While this doesn't feel like a problem, it does feel like a wasted opportunity. Wouldn't it be better if we had several bonuses for each culture? You don't need to balance the player's actions and abilities as much since it's all singleplayer, and the magnitude of bonuses could be a difficulty setting, but wouldn't it be nice to have, for instance, one bonus for combat skills, one for campaign skills and a certain culture trait that applied to the gameplay mechanics? This way, the cultures would at least be somewhat equal with each other in terms of gameplay.
Combat bonuses are the easiest ones, just pick the weapons most commonly used by the culture OR have cultural backgrounds assigned to the weapons in the game, so if the character uses matching weapons, there would be a percieved bonus to the weapon as if the correlating skill was, say 20 points higher.
Similarly, campaign skills would be selected as ones most befitting the culture's background, such as Roguery and Scouting for Battanians, Steward and Engineering for Empire, Steward and Trade for the Aserai, Scouting and Tactics for Khuzaits, Tactics and Leadership for Vlandians and Charm and Roguery for Sturgians.
As for traits, we already have them, but it would be nice if the weak ones were tweaked to be on par with the rest. Maybe a nice idea would be to have a lower threshold on swearing fealty to the leader of your culture, or make it tougher to join other cultures as you're a foreigner.
Anyway, that's just my thoughts on the Culture system, tell me what you guys think.

Going back to Warband made me appriciate the fact that armies werent a cohesive party on the map.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 03:53 AM PST

Picture this: you with with 100 men stalking a 600 men army. Staying JUST far enough to not draw aggro, but close enough to get a full picture of their movements.

You wait and you stalk an army for whom curb stomping you wouldnt even count as a paid vacation. But he who spares the wolf, sacrifices the sheep.

As night falls, an overconfident lords wanders just slighty too far from the pack. You pounce.

    500 men march on Praven.

300 men raid the countryside for supply for the siege.

    150 men reach Uxkhal.

    They never make it

Did anyone else notice that they removed/changed the tactics perk to place troops before battle?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 12:29 AM PST

    https://www.bannerlordperks.com/

On skill level 75 of tactics there used to be a perk to place troops before battle. It's literally the only perk I have been paying attention to, and now it's gone?

Bannerlord Armor Appearances and Troop Edits!

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 10:02 AM PST

Hey folks, just popping in with a curious request. I seem to recall a few months ago there was a link to some post on the TW forums where someone had laid out EVERY armor appearance AND item_id in a spreadsheet for download.

I'm editing/making new troops to expand the trees a bit, and was curious if anyone has seen this before, or has a different suggestion as opposed to logging in with Item_Encyclopedia and then minimizing to make edits, etc?

    Thanks all!

Should I become a vassal in Warband?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 02:41 AM PST

Just picked up Warband for PS4. I don't really know much about the game other than what I've seen in YouTube tutorials. I don't really want to be a mercenary, and I really don't want to be chasing raiders until my army is strong enough to siege a castle. Should I become a vassal, and if so when should I do it? Hope someone can help.

How long do you typically wait to take a city? And start your own faction? Just want advice on when I should stop being a mercenary and take on getting Calradia.

    Troop Ions

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 03:48 AM PST

This may be well known but I visit this sub everyday and have not seen this posted. I've been having trouble running more than 600 man battles and this weekend I tried playing without the troop icons and the performance increased ten fold! I can now run 1000 man battles and my sieges have gotten much better but not perfect.

If you are having issues give it a try.... :)

    Do siegies work?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 03:17 AM PST

I was besieging a castle, buliding siegie engines and all that but even though it said that there wasn't any food left for the defenders the number of militia kept growing. Is it a bug or am I just doing something wrong?
