Playing around with the new character creator. Similar problem to mordhau with characters appearing to realistic, but given time the community will discover how to use it.

    Bannerlord Troop Formations [Images included]

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 07:26 PM PST

Formations in bannerlord have been something I was very interested in, and I haven't seen anyone actually show them off.

It's bit as simple as Warband was. No longer can you get by with just "HEAR ME! STAND CLOSER!" anymore. There's counter play to everything, and certain formations are good at some things but not good at others.

So, after I got a beta key last Thursday I thought I'd take the time to demonstrate them and how they look.

And, one round of Captain Mode (and angry team!!!) later here's all the formations for people to see, as well as some description of what they do.

LINE: The basic formation, and what your troops start in. A loose double rank formation, good when on the move, but not really a formation you want when in combat. Allows the quick adoption of Shield-Wall or Loose formations.

SHIELD-WALL: The formation for infantry on infantry combat. Troops will close ranks and form either a single or double rank (depending on unit size) which protects them from enemy archers and allows them to hold enemy infantry formations in place. Troops will hold the wall, and won't turn to engage smaller groups of enemies behind them. The line is too thin to stop cavalry charges, even with spears.

LOOSE: Good for archer or skirmisher units when fighting other archers or skirmishers. Troops will spread out into a single rank to minimize their chances of being hit by enemy projectiles. Not good against infantry or cavalry formations.

CIRCLE: An infantry or archer formation for dealing with enemy Archer Cavalry. Troops will form a one, or two rank (depending on unit size) circle, allowing them to cover all directions of attack and defend against enemy projectiles. It is not good against enemy infantry formations.

SQAURE: An infantry formation for dealing with enemy cavalry. Troops will form a square to cover every angle of attack. Good for use with pike and spear formations. Not good against infantry or archers.

SKEIN: A primarily cavalry formation. Troops will arrange themselves into a "V" shape to maximize charge impact. Good for breaking up enemy infantry formations. Takes time to form and re-form.

COLUMN: An infantry and archer formation combining rapid mobility and the quick ability to form Square. Troops will form two or three rows (depending on unit numbers) Good for moving with pike or spearmen when the potential to encounter enemy cavalry is high.

And that's the formations in Bannerlord's Beta! I hope you found the information helpful and the images enjoyable!

As a final image, here's a unit of Aserai spear and shield infantry bracing for an enemy charge!

Looking do a return of the king role play in PoP

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 04:21 AM PST

Where my character is the long lost son of the lost kingdom of Pendor. I really want most of my units to be Pendor units however what is a good way to get them consistently in the early game other than prisoners?

    PERISNO

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 09:15 AM PST

I just started a Perisno game yesterday and was wondering if any one had any advice on how to get started, who to recruit, any tips that would generally help me along the way. I started in the Reich area and am currently a merch for them. Played POP and so far I have purchased a few business and some land but very confused about what the land does.

Does having greater relationship with town increase mercenary count? (Native PS4)

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 07:12 PM PST

Just like having good relations with villages increases recruit count, is their a way I can increase the number of mercenaries available?

Money has never been an issue and now I'm accumulating much more than I can spend. But I'm doing Sarranids so their troop tree is kind of a pain to work with. Haven't left the desert yet still trying to break past the Rhodoks and Khergits.

    Viking Conquest love thread

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 12:08 PM PST

I get the feeling I'm not the only one who more or less exclusively plays Viking Conquest (Reforged with Balance Mod). It is the most epic and immersive M&B. Can we have some love for Viking Conquest?

I'm trying to marry this guy but everytime I propose he says another maiden has captured his heart

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 07:53 PM PST

Boyar Kumipa has a 100 relation with me, is good-natured (so no "wild and free woman" bullshit) and says he's my most ardent admirer whenever I leave conversation with him, but every goddamn time I try to marry him he says this

I have high renown and high honor, and own a village, a castle and Wercheg, he owns a castle and Khudan

I'm considering going independent (which is already my end goal) so he'll leave the Vaegirs and join my kingdom instead because of his high relationship with me, then I guess I will be able to marry him since there will be no other ladies he can court around, but I would like to be more powerful before declaring independence from Yaroglek

[PS4] I'm supposed to deliver Eir to Wercheg and this comes up when I arrive there. After this pops up, it just cuts dialog to me saying prepare to die, then it repeats. Eventually I have to restart the game on a previous autosave to get out of it. Any way I can actually complete this quest?

What do you wish you learned earlier in M&B Warband?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 03:39 PM PST

My shameful example is that I didn't know about Ctrl+Space time speedup on the map until thousands of hours in... Are there any other tips like this that made the game vastly easier/more convenient that not everyone knows about?
