    ANTI HORSE ARCHER WARFARE

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 02:34 AM PDT

The game accounts for the fact that (right handed) archers can only shoot to the left from a horse; if the game didn't do this there'd be no countering them but because you know that they're going to circle you counter-clockwise you can defeat them, if you know how.

    The How to do it:

everyone who's on foot & doesnt have a spear gets put into a single group, archers swordsmen skirmishers, all of them. (You can even put (dismounted) cavalry to keep them safe). That formation gets put into a circle formation, in the open, where the mounted archers will want to circle you, ordered to face one direction (so they won't spin) and then you leave them there. Common sense says thats suicide, buut, you want them to put their shields outwards in every direction and then do nothing so they don't find excuses to lower their shields. This is the anvil against which you will beat their skirmishers to death.

All of your spearmen get put into a line or loose formation outside the circle on the side opposite of where the enemy foot troops will be coming from (so you've got time to reform the line if/when the armies clash), facing clockwise, forming the tail of a Q; every time they circle your main body of troops they get forced thru a wall of spears. You'll want to use shield wall but resist the urge; you don't want them to use their shields & let the enemy thru unharmed, you want them to use their spears to fucking murder them as they pass, a spear wall will do more damage to horse archers in a single pass than vice versa so stick with loose formation.

    The What to do:

If you succeed in forcing them thru ur screen you can put your lancers into a column formation and then personally lead them in a circle around your main formation going clockwise, couching ur lance & ripping thru horse archers as u go.

If you're lacking in troops to fill out the tail of your formation you can make them dismount & use them as spearmen -- a circling line of lancers wont make as effective a screen as a stationary line of spearmen so don't sacrifice the hammer to your anvil just to play horsies with the enemy cavalry archers.

If you have too many spearman and not enough people in the circle formation so the horse archers target & circle the spearmen instead of going thru, ur gonna have to start unfolding your Q into rolling L's. You move your circle formation down the back of your spear line and unfold them into a (not shield wall) line at the end of your spear line (remembering to put them on hold fire so they won't be caught holding a bow when the enemy rams them) forming an L shape trying to catch them in your new screen as they turn. Then you order your spearmen line to run down the new line and to turn around to flip the L-- you can just keep leap-frogging your troops like this throwing out screens of spears in the way of the horse archers as they try to turn around the line that they're targeting. Effectively what you're doing is forming a gigantic square of spears (and swords, u work with what u got), except you're only forming the corner closest to them giving u a much bigger square than u actually have the men for, and forming it in their path so they can't just ride around it bc horses at speed take time to turn & a formation of them even moreso.

If you completely defeat them and they stop circling and just go stationary & start arrowing your spearmen instead of crossing the screen, put the tail into shield wall, move the circle with the archers in it down the line to easy shooting range and then put them into loose formation, turn & shoot them to death.

Congrats, you just massacred an enemy you can't catch. While I was typing this I started a 500v500 battle with the Kuzait whose horse archer regiment was 150 deep, their first attempt at a circle brought them down to 40, the ones who survived didn't even attempt to cross the screen and just stopped to shoot at the spearmen so I folded my archers back to shoot them and sent them packing back to their army who hadn't even moved yet

You know how your army is always half-dead before they've even met the enemy infantry bc of all the horse archers? Here's how my power-balance looks after repulsing their skirmishers with the Q-screen. It might not seem like much but that missing 10% usually does most of your casualties before the fight even starts. Note the piles of dead steppe horses on the right, they bring me great joy and honour

    Armor options

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 08:26 AM PDT

Hi, I built a PC for this game. I'm a casual gamer so mainly used a console for games and had a laptop for any work I needed done on PC. I always loved medieval history and games and couldn't wait for Bannerlord to be ported to consoles (it might take years) so I built a pc a couple weeks ago and this is the only game I have/play on PC.

I'm on my first playthrough, loving it so for. My character is about 10 in-game years in (50ish hours gameplay) and at this point I can't seem to find new armor or weapons. The hero NPCs especially the Vlandians (joined them) have some cool Templar looking armors with padded robes and chainmail underneath and their clan emblem on top, and some intricate open face helms, while I can only find chainmail hauberks, and a couple options with a robe on top of chainmail. Do better armors show up later, will I ever find armors and helms similar to Vlandian hero NPC's ?

Why does it seem like Bannerlord is on Epic games always one update late?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 08:03 AM PDT

While people here have already update e1.5.4, i just got e1.5.3 week ago. Is there any particular reason for this? I am honestly a bit dissapointed, since someone already mentioned this problem few months back.

All my highwaymen are ready to be upgraded, but unlike the forest bandits, when I put them into the fiefs, they don't get upgraded

    Old saves with new modules

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 05:34 AM PDT

So this save I have I guess everyone is basically dying. My sweet lame wife alesa just died at 59. I was gonna remarry but the bish I was gonna married also died. I wanted more kids since I only have 2. I feel like I can't really run my own kingdom since I don't have many kids. My current character is 68 so i have a feeling he's gonna die soon. Maybe not idk I mean derhearth (probs misspelled) is like 84 or 87.

But honestly every in game day now someone is dying off. Which before everyone would live to 90-110

I think there has been more characters added that are young. But my play through is currently stalemate. Three main kingdoms left and were all fighting for the empires land in the middle since no one can really fill these big cities with a lot of troops quickly. We're all at war constantly so my fiefs are always wrecked even though I try and defend them.

I guess I should start a new play through since I understand the game better and know how to get a decent start. And plus my next play through will be to run my own kingdom.

How do I level up troops faster in Warband?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 05:28 AM PDT

So I'm new to the game and I was wondering how do get my troops to level up or earn more experience faster. I keep getting rekt by those desert raiders with the horses so I wanted to grow a stronger army and eradicate them.

    Bannerlord Body Sliding Mod?

Is there a mod that adds the body slide feature to Bannerlord? (The ability to take control of one of your troops when your character is knocked out)
