The Problem With Single Patches For All Game Modes

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:56 AM PDT

Captain and Skirmish play very very differently, which is why making a patch primarily for skirmish balancing breaks captain mode, and why patches just for captain mode balancing breaks skirmish. I have seen this go both ways since launch.

The recent hard nerf to throwables and archers really really made captain mode terrible. Yes, these weapons are still manageable by players, but the AI is way too dumb to take time to hold their throw or their bow aim to make sure it's accurate before firing. It also makes their shots take extra time to get off, if they do decide to hold their aim for a second. This has rendered archers/throwable secondary weapons completely useless, solidifying that the ONLY meta now is a ton of infantry. This has always been the meta build, but you could at least counter it with good archer play and now that is no longer the case at all. If you bring archers, they will kill nearly nobody, even the low armor/no shield shock troops can run directly at a group of archers and lose nearly no troops at all.

and for god's sake, PLEASE give captain mode some love. It feels like an unwanted step child at this point, there have been patches/maps added for every other game mode and captain mode gets nothing but scraps. Honestly all it has "gained" since launch is taleworlds taking away a shitty map, nothing to replace it, just a black hole. Now we cycle through the same 3 maps, it's getting really old. The captain mode population is nearly dead thanks to the neglect, which is a shame because it was such an amazing game mode you can't play anywhere else.

Can cavalry do anything other than just stand around when you get knocked down?

    Posted: 16 Sep 2020 08:31 PM PDT

How many troops am I going to lose because I get one hit by a voulge and the 30 cavalry just sits around behind the action doing literally nothing? If it's a bug then whatever, but it's pretty consistent. Why is it not like Warband where they just charge when you go down?

    Roleplaying?

    Posted: 16 Sep 2020 01:46 PM PDT

Does anyone else like rp-ing in these games? Like in Warband I created a character (named after my first D&D character) called Sir Gawain. I went along with Rolf's idea to share my royal lineage, because in my rp, i had royal lineage. It's why i named my kingdom the Kingdom of Calradia. So, in the wiki it said that eventually the empire broke up into vlandians, battanians etc., then they became Swadia, the Nords etc. But I'm saying, what if the empire that broke up into the Warband factions wasn't the Empire I'm defeating in Bannerlord? In my rp, my bannerlord character, Gawain, (when i rule of course) is the emperor of the new Calradian empire, forged from the ashes of the previous one and the lands of Vlandia (I'm a diehard Vlandian/Swadian). This empire broke up, and Gawain's descendants scattered. They became retainers and nobles in far off lands, until one day the good knight Sir Gawain decided to reclaim what was his and rode back to Calradia, sword in hand, to finish what the insurgents started. And on another note, the Gawain of Bannerlord traces his ancestry back to Calradios himself. The Gawain empire was forged in an unknown land, broken in a three-way civil war, reforged by a descendant of Calradios, broken by insurgents, and finally united once again by the good knight Sir Gawain for (hopefully, though I would absolutely play the hell out of Mount & Blade games coming all the way from medieval times to the future) the last time. (Though getting to play as Lord Gawain with his loyal riflemen, General Gawain in the first great Calradian War (world war), then the next General Gawain in the second great Calradian War, President Gawain of whatever modern day Swadia is called, maybe we'll even go beyond Calradia, even beyond Earth if the series goes far enough!)

does anyone else do this or am i crazy?

    Pillar Men of Floris mod

    Pain.

    Posted: 16 Sep 2020 02:18 PM PDT

Why do my horse archers start every battle so far away from me? They are my only troops and I've had them start on a mountain just to run off and die because of this before.

[Bannerlord] Are Sturian infantry supposed to be really weak?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 12:07 AM PDT

I'm doing the custom battles to get used to the combat and controls and am commanding the Sturgians.

In the three battles I've run I go 50v50 men 75% infantry 25% archers.

In all three battles my spearmen almost immediately get bodied by whomever they're fighting.

Edit: also my archers aren't scattering when I tell them to.
