    Siege AI/pathfinding is borderline unacceptable

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 06:43 AM PDT

Taking certain castles just is incredibly inefficient/impossible because the attacker AI is so bad. Sometimes the soldiers don't destroy the second gate, they just stand there doing heck-all. Sometimes their cognitive competence does not extend to climbing ladders, making them practically just arrow fodder, and those unfortunates who are able to climb the ladders have no chance in their miniscule numbers. As much as I love content updates, this should be Taleworlds' top priority. Fixing things that make the game unnescessarily hard (or easy) for the player.

[PoP] How do you beat Eyegrims massive army?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 06:29 AM PDT

First play through of PoP, so I had a little trouble early on as I found my way through. However I often noticed messages saying "Eyegrim is raising fallen from his prisoners!" Or something similar.

His army size now? 1900. And it won't stop growing.

I was able to drag a Sarleon army of around 1100 into a battle with him when it was a little smaller, but his fallen just massacred them- initial charge wasn't great and then they pinned them into the spawn.

When I try to marshal my forces and pull them into a fight, they always run away despite the fact that we may be close to outnumbering him (or were until he got to 1900.)

Any advice for how to handle this? His army just seems to keep getting larger and more bloated and I'm concerned it's getting to the point of no return where I just can't even bother with it.

Aserai Mameluke Heavy Cavalry is the most OP unit in the game and you should experience it before it inevitably gets nerfed

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 06:10 PM PDT

Right now, horse archers are the most powerful unit type in Bannerlord. This is for a couple of reasons. First, ranged power wins battles. If you have more ranged power (archers/crossbowmen/horse archers) than the enemy, then you can force them to engage your line wherever you choose. You dictate the terms of engagement. One exception to this rule is if the enemy can counter your ranged units with cavalry. Archers on foot are much more susceptible to being charged by cavalry. Another exception is if the enemy has enough shielded infantry to form an impenetrable shield wall. This is never true for AI lords.

The second reason horse archers are so powerful has to do with campaign map speed. Put simply, horse archers and cavalry make you move on the map much faster than men on foot, even if you have a horse for every man. The same rule as above applies: with a horse archer (and cavalry) -heavy army, you dictate the terms of engagement. You fight who and where you want.

Now, if horse archers are so great, which horse archer is the best? The answer is easily the Aserai Mameluke Heavy Cavalry, which so far outshines the competition it's kind of absurd.

Here is a screenshot of its equipment, which you can see with the Equipment in Encyclopedia mod.

    Aserai Mameluke Heavy Cavalry

For context, here is the equipment of the other horse archers, including the Khuzait noble line.

    Khuzait Heavy Horse Archer

    Imperial Bucellarii

    Khuzait Kheshig

    Khuzait Khan's Guard

As you can see by comparing them, the Mameluke Heavy has the best armor out of all of them with the exception of the Khan's Guard, which is a Tier 6 noble unit, which means that the Mameluke Heavy's armor is is the best in its tier.

The Mameluke Heavy's horse armor (55) is better than the Khan's Guard's (38), so it is the best in its class. Not pictured here is the Mameluke Heavy's horse, the Aserai Horse, which is the fastest horse of any unit in the game, excluding heroes.

The most astounding this about the Mameluke Heavy, however, is its weapon, the Noble Bow. Since 1.4.0, no other unit has this bow. It is by far the highest damage bow of any unit in the game. Yes, it even outclasses the Battanian Fian Champion's bow in damage, speed, and accuracy.

    Battanian Fian Champion

Not only that, but the Mameluke Heavy also has the most damaging arrows out of all archers and horse archers. The only place where it falls short is the number of arrows. It only has one stack of 23 arrows, trading the second stack for a shield.

To recap, the Mameluke Heavy has:

    Armor - best in tier
Horse armor - best in class
    Horse - fastest in game
    Weapon - best in game

The Mameluke Heavy is so powerful you only need a few to outgun every AI lord. They don't die, and they will decimate the opposing army all while forcing them to come to you.

I've been having a lot of fun with them, but I think I may have had my fill. OP units are only fun for so long. I wanted to share what I learned with you so you could experience it while it lasts. I hope you do!

Improved Diplomacy; Decrease the negative effect executions have on the enemy of those you executed

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:40 AM PDT

I understand the early stage of Bannerlord, and I'm not suggesting this as the most paramount addition. I've been thinking it would be nice to have the feature that would make the execution feature more useful/political.

If a particular character has just been an overall pain in the ass, and many other characters have a low opinion of him/her, it should be more acceptable to execute him/her.

Maybe keep the strong negative opinion in the case of executing a king or queen, but allow executions of other treacherous characters.

    Warband 4gb Patch

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:30 AM PDT

Hello, I have a question about the 4gb patch. Warband is ususally capped at using 2gb of ram, however I've seen people saying that if you use the 4gb patch you can get warband to use 4. But the instructions for applying it are really vague, so...

Can someone explain to me how to apply the 4gb patch to Warband? Thanks!

Is the "Propose peace" option a bit... flat?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:08 AM PDT

I have found it to be a bit OP. I just founded my own kingdom and I have snatched two cities already by beating a neutral party in battle (War is declared between our factions but no influence is lost), quickly sacking one of their cities and then proposing peace before they can strike back. I used the tactic against the Aserai who had almost 10 times the strenght of my kingdom, so I'm sure they would have actualy not wanted peace with me, my fiefs would have been easy pickings for them. It just feels like a "Get out of jail free" card.

Peace from the west to the east.

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 07:35 PM PDT

So I have no idea why this has happened, but directly after capturing a the last castle from the northern empire, every other kingdom decided to make peace, and no one has had a war for 2 months in game. I've just been hunting down the last of the northern empire, but I don't have any backing or distraction to make war on any other kingdom, along with that every castle has racked up at least 400 militia... I don't know what to do with this, I'm worried I might have to start another play through.

Mount & Blade player since 2009. Planning to buy Bannerlord. Still worth it?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 03:16 AM PDT

Let me say that I am proud of this sub. The number of members has risen up since Bannerlord release.

As someone who has been playing this for more than 10 years now (had the privilege to indulge in the most OP Swadian Knight F1 F3 in Mount & Blade pre-Warband), is spending EUR 35 worth it?

I still enjoy Warband and the Last Days and Pendor mods so I do not want to spend this much if Bannerlord turns out to be a far cry from the quality of Warband.
