Can we stop with letting participants of tournaments bring their own armor in?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 11:43 PM PDT

Its getting a bit much when the crappy tournament sword they give you does a whole 10 damage per hit. Then they hit you like a truck, even with pretty decent armor.

It also just made it fun and feel like a tournament when every participant had the same exact gear.

Lindybeige demonstrates a lot of good points about spear and shield and how they really oughta work.

    Battanian Tournaments are Superior

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 08:13 AM PDT

This is just my opinion but comparatively I greatly dislike any tournament besides Battanian ones. Battanian tournaments are more fun, more fair, and more skill based imo.

Battanian tournaments consist of strictly two handed weapons, and bows I'm pretty sure. I do like horses but it's ok. Just like the thing with the ai is that with high level ai faints don't even work. The moment you cancel an attack they immediately go for one so you just have to block, and the biggest problem is shields. Man you will just take ages to end a fight because the blocking is endless and effortless. Then it's absolutely fucking terrible when you get a spear to use on foot too, at least when you're relatively low level. Actually dropped my spear sometimes and won the fight with my fists, lmao. Horse archery in Khuzait tournaments isn't that bad it's just awkward and tedious imo, and you can get the foot spear and shield often too, though I enjoy the common horse and spear. Vlandian ones are also okay actually except for the crossbows that dome you and kill you in one hit across the map.

I think that Battanian tournaments are way more fast paced and skill based simply because of the lack of shields, and also the lack of a certain weapons or horses that often make it seem unfair with a quick and unexpected death. There are bows but they don't do too much damage and spice it up fine imo. Also if you think in the perspective of the audience, I cannot imagine people still cheering when a fight between two people lasts ages because they block every spear thrust, no matter what one does. Doesn't happen every time just sometimes it's a gridlock.

This was probably a mess of stuff but yeah, tl;dr I just find that I consistently enjoy every Battanian tournament and if I die it's actually my fault, and all the others I feel I die unfairly or it's a grind to get through, because of the equipment used in all of them. Therefore I consider Battanian tournaments better.

    Have vassals been fixed?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 07:26 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

it's been a while since I've played. what really turned me off was trying to manage my kingdom. after paying lords a million denars to join my kingdom, they all left within 4 days every time. I've looked through patch notes as they come out but haven't noticed any fixes related to this. any news on that?

    Cavalry is unbalanced and overpowered

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 10:28 AM PDT

This is mostly a problem in Skirmish and TDM, but I find cavalry to be pretty damn OP and so do quite a few others. This mostly comes down to a few points.

-Spears are a lot less useful than they should be. Blocking them without a shield is ridiculously easy, meaning that a lot of players would rather choose a perk other than the spear since it's basically useless against infantry. Even against cavalry spears are a lot less good than they should be. Cavalry are able to couch lances and then they can pretty much just run into people and kill them, but spearmen have to time things just right to kill an oncoming cavalryman. Bracing a spear against an incoming horse should probably be an option.

-Horses are WAY too tough. To be fair the humans are a lot stronger than in real life as well, but the horses are on a different level. A lot of jumps that would break a horse's legs do minimal damage and horses seem not to react if they get shot by an arrow or hit by a throwable weapon. Which is odd since characters always flinch after getting shot.

-Falling off your horse after it's killed isn't a big deal. If you're unlucky you'll take one hit. There should definitely be damage taken for falling off a horse, depending on how fast the horse was going before it died.

[PoP] Best troops for castle garrisons in my opinion.

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 09:02 AM PDT

Right I have seen malbethion do a bunch of these so I wanted gove one a shot myself. Mettenheim crossbowmen. They are extremely easy to train up. And of course Barclay Soldats. Now here may be the conflict. Barclay is known for arquebusiers and mettenheim for great infantry. But this is why its for castle garrisons. If you have Balestras, they become crappy arquebusiers. And the mettenheim guys do not have shields so there's that. I also find them super easy to train and are decently common to get in taverns and red brotherhood.
