Company of Trouble is an obnoxious quest and needs fixing.

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 09:25 PM PDT

This quest is obnoxious. Some random noble wants you to make a bunch of mercenaries someone else's problem, because they're getting too expensive for her.

The problem is, these guys are bandits. They're thieves. They swore that if they weren't paid, they'd just "go bandit" altogether and start raiding places. If you take the job, you get these clowns in your party and cannot dismiss them.

Not only do they draw wages despite having been prepaid for the contract, they flagrantly steal your goods!

Why exactly don't I just march into the woods and hang these motherfuckers from the nearest convenient tree? They're stealing my property. We hang thieves in this company, I say. It would solve everybody's problems: the noblewoman would no longer have a company of unruly bandits taking her money and stealing from her larder, I'd no longer have a company of unruly bandits taking my money and stealing from my baggage train!

Nobody wants to take these clowns, and you have to pass an obnoxious skill challenge twice consecutively.

I just want to execute these guys, I don't care if it massively dings my mercy or honor meters anymore. I've actually taken to putting them in a formation all of their own, starting battles, marching them out in front of everybody else, and shooting them in the back of the head.

Unfortunately, they have an annoying tendency to not die when killed thanks to my brand-new medic companion, So then I have to wait for them to heal up from the repeated arrow wounds.

This quest is broken, and it needs a way to break out of it that doesn't involve a random traveler who may not be the most well-spoken in Calradia successfully convincing some lord they need this gang of thieving sellswords in their warband.

BUG? You can recruit prisoners with "arithmetic progression" by holding SHIFT

Not sure if it's already well-known but I have been exploiting this "bug" for a while.

When you keep prisoners in your party, in time they will gradually become recruitable. There will be an icon that indicates how many prisoners of this unit you can recruit. For example, if you have 10 imperial trained infantryman and the icon says 4, technically it means you can left click icon 4 times and recruit 4 units with 6 prisoners left. However, if you do it by holding SHIFT then left click it 4 times, you can actually recruit 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10 units. You can recruit all of them! Each SHIFT click gives you "x" unit of the prisoners (where x is the face value of the icon) while it only reduces its number by 1 even with SHIFT, so you can SHIFT click it 4 times.

    SHIFT click 2 times can recruit 3 (2 + 1), while normal click 2 times only recruit 2 (1 + 1) with 1 prison left

On the other hand, you can also keep accumulating the recruitable number and only use one single SHIFT click and then wait for the number to come back (the recruitable number is of course capped at the amount of the prisoners with the same type in your party).

I usually keep like 4~5 prisoners of the units I want in my party and wait for the icon to accumulate. After that I go to my settlement and pull more prisoners with the same type then use this bug to recruit many of them. This is especially useful when you want to recruit a plenty of high-tier prisoners.

Remember this trick only works when you are holding SHIFT and left click. It works normally (+1, +1, ...) if you just left click without SHIFT.

In conclusion, don't recruit prisoners as soon as they become available. Keep these recruitable in your party and accumulate the recruitable number. Then use SHIFT click trick to recruit a plenty of them!

    Warband or Bannerlord?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 07:49 AM PDT

I have not played a mount and blade game before and I'm not sure which one I should play. Warband is super cheap rn but bannerlord looks a bit better. Is bannerlord in a playable state because I see that its in early access right now

    ASOFAI Mod Warband

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 10:00 AM PDT

How do you get started? I'm between wanting to enjoy this mod and hating it because the bar for entry is stupid fucking high. Can't recruit, can't trade, if you go to battle you fuck off and die after getting maimed, and taken as prisoner.

The only reasonable start I had all of my stats were fucked because I had been beaten to shit for hours before, oh and you cant fucking heal because everything is fucking expensive.

It's one of the only things I've ever played that I've both really enjoyed and thought was complete dogshit.

My internet is pretty slow and gets throttled daily instead of monthly so it will take days, while making the internet slow for the entire family.

    Bannerlord map vs. Warband map

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 07:14 AM PDT

Hey, I'm new to the whole Mount & Blade series. I was wondering if anyone has a faction map of the Warband era, it would be fun to compare it to the Bannerlord one.

(Prophesy of Pendor) Should I take this handicap? :

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 06:37 AM PDT

So I am about to reach the point where J am going to make my own kingdom, and so far I never have had a legit playthrough where I took a castle myself. I don't want to face the post founding chaos so here is what I am thinking; I am going to activate cheat mode, and use the cheat for besieging the castle. I will fight the siege properly, it's just so I do not anger any faction. So here is my question, do I do it? Or do I not, if the latter please tell me some useful tips. I was thinking getting enough RTR for Timothy, if not Toblik who is also decent to help me, but other advice is accepted 8)

    Question about warband’s troop movement

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 05:49 AM PDT

So I just started Warband but I have played a lot of Bannerlord. I really like it but the one thing I've noticed is troop ai seems to be totally random at the start of battles. Instead of charging at each other, my troops and the enemy troops seem to just wander in different directions until they find each other. This leads to my rapidly trying to issue orders to keep my troops together. Is there a mod or something that keeps battles more organized like in Bannerlord? Or did I just experience a few buggy battles?

So bannerlord set time period before warband?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 07:08 PM PDT

I see that they got all new factions, i like Roman history and the 5 century Roman look alike is pretty awesome, played a lot of Attila total war so it super obvious to me that the settings take inspirations from the 5th century Europe.

But do they have any direct relationship with warband or nah?

Expanded Troop Tree Submod for AWOIAF

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 08:55 AM PDT

Hello all, I've recently been playing the AWOIAF mod again & I've always wished that there would be a bit more variety in the kingdom troop trees so I've gone ahead & changed it up myself & thought I'd put it up if anyone else wanted to download and have a play through with it.

The changes I've made are adding a few new units to each Westerosi Kingdom & also the Golden Company. Besides that I also went ahead and made some slight tweaks and adjustments to all the current troops in game either stat or item wise including household troops, mercenaries & bandits. NPC Lords will also recruit & use the new units that have been added in.

I've also adjusted some stats of companions who had 0 in Riding & Shield skills & were too high level for the player to effectively train them up to do so.

Some top tier units that had worse equipment than previous tier units have also been amended along with changes to some weapons, armours & horses.

Here are the download links to the submod:

    MODDB

    Nexus Mods

You will have to start a new game to see the new changes.

Edit: Changelog is posted in the comments.
